Paulo Brasil was born on March 10,
1976 in Santo Amaro, Bahia, Brazil. His musical education began at
the age of six, when he had his first piano lessons with his mother
and Dr. Helena Coppens in Salvador.From 1983 to 1991 he studied with

Federal University of Bahia
and from 1992 to 1993 with Miriam Ramos at the Federal University
of Rio de Janeiro. A scholarship enabled Paulo Brasil to continue
his studies with Prof. Natalia Troull at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory
in Moscow. In 1998 he became a student of Prof. Igo Koch at the Conservatory
of Music of the City of Vienna from where he graduated in 2002.
His first solo recital,
given at the age of 10 years, took place at the Concert Hall of the
University of Bahia on November 10, 1986. Four days later he had his
debut with Joseph Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D major with the
Symphony Orchestra of the University of Bahia.
In 1991 he was invited
to perform the Piano Concerto No. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven with the
same orchestra on the occasion of the Opening of the Concert Season.

In 2005 he won the Third Prize in the "Spanish Composers Piano Competition", in Las Rozas (Madrid) and in 2007, the First Prize in the "Antón García Abril Piano Competition".
As a soloist and as a
chamber music player he has performed in various cities in his home
country Brazil, in Russia, USA, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Mexico and has played and recorded for the National Television in several concert
halls in Spain. In 2007 he became the pianist of the Intémpore Piano Trio, with the cellist Barbara Switalska and the violinist Rubén Reina improving his repertoire for trio and with both musicians saparately, playing several duo programs. |
